Athletics
At St. Pius
X High School our excellence extends beyond academics. It’s
our intent to provide the opportunity for all students to participate
in as many interscholastic athletic activities as possible. The
lessons learned on a playing field benefit the students during
high school and throughout the rest of our lives.
The primary
goal of our athletic program is to accentuate the development
of the whole student and achieve a personal level of excellence
in the areas of fitness, team commitment, discipline, leadership,
consideration of others and sportsmanship.
When a student
chooses to become a member of a team, the choices he or she makes
will have an impact or not just one’s own goals but on the
goals of the team. For this reason, our athletic programs become
a significant tool in the educational process of character development
and help encourage students to lead by example.
Among the sports
offered for girls at St. Pius X High School are: Basketball, Cheerleading,
Cross Country, Dance Team, Softball, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis,
Track and Volleyball. Our boys sports are: Baseball, Basketball,
Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track,
and Wrestling.
St. Pius X has a
tradition of excellence in athletics for many years. St. Pius
X boys and girls teams continue to excel with several state championships
in football, baseball, and dance; state qualifiers in swimming
and track; and trips to the state championships for volleyball,
basketball, wrestling, soccer, golf, cross country and tennis.
As an extension of the classroom, the St. Pius X athletic programs
help each student achieve a personal level of excellence in fitness,
team commitment, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship.
