I:

Prerequisite: None
The course introduces the basic
patterns and grammatical elements of the language. It aims
to enable the student to acquire an increasing control of
the four language skills: understanding, speaking, reading
and writing. Exposure to Hispanic Culture is interwoven into
class work.

I with a Grade of B or Higher.
The course continues work in
the four language skills, and includes extensive reading,
writing and oral expression through dialogues, readings, current
stories and historical capsules.

SPANISH III:
Credit 1
Prerequisite: Successful Completion of Spanish
II with a Grade of B or Higher.
In Spanish III, students will
improve communication in all four areas: listening, speaking,
reading and writing. A grammar review covering previously
learned grammatical structures and vocabulary will enhance
speaking in the target language intelligibly. Some concentration
will be on history and culture, primarily in the Spanish language.
Short literary works will be introduced.

HONORS SPANISH III: (College Credit Avaliable)
Credit 1
Prerequisite: Successful Completion of Spanish
II with a Grade of B or Higher, and Teacher Recommendation
In Spanish III, students will
improve communication in all four areas: listening, speaking,
reading and writing. A grammar review covering previously
learned grammatical structures and vocabulary will enhance
the speaking in the target language intelligibly. Some concentration
will be on history and culture, primarily in the Spanish language.
Short literary works will be introduced. This course will
be offered for ACCP credit through Rockhurst University; however,
in order to qualify for college credit, the student must have
a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students who do not meet
this criterion may be allowed to take the class but will not
receive the college credit.

SPANISH IV
Credit 1
Prerequisite: Successful Completion of Spanish
III with a Grade of B or Higher.
Spanish IV aims at refining all four skill areas: listening,
speaking, reading and writing. There will be a continued emphasis
placed on oral and written communication. Students will enhance
these skills through the study of advanced grammar and literary
selections.

Spanish IV aims at refining

communication. Students will enhance these skills through
the study of advanced grammar and literary selections. Spanish
IV students will be encouraged to take the AP Test. This course
will be offered for ACCP credit through Rockhurst University;

do not meet this criterion may be allowed to take the class
but will not receive the college credit.
